Heat Treatment

  • Soft annealing before machining.
  • Preheating followed by austenitizing around 1000–1050°C.
  • Air/gas or controlled quenching.
  • Double tempering, commonly around 550–650°C.

Mechanical Properties

  • Typical working hardness : 44 – 52 HRC.
  • Can be heat treated to approx. 50 – 54 HRC.
  • Excellent thermal-fatigue resistance.
  • Good hot hardness.
  • Good toughness and dimensional stability.
