EN19

Overview

EN19 is a chromium-molybdenum alloy steel offering high strength, toughness and fatigue resistance. It is widely used for highly stressed engineering components.

Heat Treatment

  • Hardening approximately 850–950°C, depending on section/specification
  • Oil quenching
  • Tempering generally around 570-700°C, depending on required properties

Typical quenched-and-tempered condition:

  • Tensile strength: approximately 850–1100 MPa
  • High strength
  • Good toughness
  • Good fatigue resistance
  • Good hardenability
