Overview

EN9 is a higher-carbon medium-carbon steel offering higher hardness and strength than EN8, making it suitable for components requiring greater wear resistance.

Heat Treatment

  • Normalising
  • Hardening approximately 850–900°C
  • Oil quenching
  • Tempering according to desired hardness

Mechanical Properties

  • Higher hardness and strength than EN8
  • Typical hardened hardness can reach approximately 55–60 HRC
  • Good wear resistance
  • Moderate toughness
