EN8 is a medium-carbon steel widely used for general engineering components where a balance of strength, machinability and toughness is required.

Heat Treatment
- Normalising
- Hardening generally around 800–850°C
- Oil/water quenching depending on section and requirement
- Tempering generally around 540-680°C, depending on desired properties
Mechanical Properties
Depending on condition:
- Tensile strength: typically around 550–700 MPa
- Good machinability
- Moderate strength
- Good toughness
- Can be induction/flame hardened
