Overview

M2 is a widely used tungsten-molybdenum high-speed steel offering a strong combination of hardness, wear resistance, toughness and cutting performance.

Controlled

Heat Treatment

  • Preheating in stages
  • Austenitizing approximately 1150–1230°C
  • Controlled quenching
  • Multiple tempering cycles, commonly around 540–570°C

Mechanical Properties

  • Typical hardened hardness: 62–65 HRC
  • Excellent cutting-edge retention
  • High wear resistance
  • Good hot hardness
  • Good toughness for a high-speed steel
