Overview

M35 is a cobalt-alloyed high-speed steel, providing higher hot hardness and cutting performance than conventional M2, particularly in demanding cutting applications.

Heat Treatment

  • Multi-stage preheating.
  • Austenitizing approximately 1180–1230°C.
  • Controlled quenching.
  • Multiple tempering cycles around 540–570°C.

Mechanical Properties

  • Typical hardened hardness: 63–66 HRC
  • Higher hot hardness than M2
  • Excellent wear resistance
  • Good cutting-edge retention
